thanks to the awesome responsiveness of the LilyPond folks [1], a bug in
Ghostscript was found and upstream Ghostscript developers fixed this in
no time [2]!

It would be great if the commit

        a3d00daf5f9abb1209cb750a95e23bc6951c1c63
        pdfwrite - convert non-UTF-16BE doc info to UTF-8 assuming 
PDFDocEncoding

could be backported as otherwise data could be lost due to the
incorrectly encoded characters.
