In debian/patches/fhs-compliance, you change the pathname of the cfagent.hostname.log file from workdir to /var/log, but you only do it in LoadSetuid. You also need to change the path in SaveSetuid. These routines are in src/files_interfaces.c around line 1320.
Although, since this file is not really a log file, I would suggest leaving it workdir. The fix in this case is simply to remove the change from the patch file. I have tested this and it works.
