Icedove normaly doesn't do that. I'm sure your config isn't correct in this case. Can you please backup your local profile and start a clean profile? I had never such problems here. I think that some of the config entry are not standard. Is your current profile a migrated profile from old versions? Personaly I think no one really can manage this hughe amount of mails and never ever read the most of this mails later. But this have everey person to handle by himself. O.K. that's not to discuss here. So by all the anger you get please remind that icedove is "just" a rebranded original mozilla thunderbird package. The most of problems reported here are problems by upstream. To get this bugs please check if there any reported and opened bugs on the bugzilla on Mozilla.
