Package: kernel-image-2.6.12-1-k7 Severity: important When trying to upgrade the harddisc to a bigger sata drive, I also decided to use lvm.
However a simple copy (like tar -C /usr -cf- . | tar -C /mnt -xvf- ) here (/mnt is on the lvm on sata and /usr is a raw ext3 on pata), will fail and the destination partion will get moarked readonly. On examinining the dmesg output you can find this:- EXT3-fs error (device dm-1): ext3_new_inode: reserved inode or inode > inodes count - block_group = 0, inode=6 Aborting journal on device dm-1. EXT3-fs error (device dm-1) in ext3_new_inode: IO failure EXT3-fs error (device dm-1) in ext3_symlink: IO failure ext3_abort called. EXT3-fs error (device dm-1): ext3_journal_start_sb: Detected aborted journal Remounting filesystem read-only I'm guessing the problem is at the sata layer, as I have also seen the problem with a raw ext3 partion on the same device, and I'm not see anything which looks like a hw / sata layer error message. I also had this problem with 2.6.8 from stable. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.12-1-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
