I would be willing to spend some time on the package. Since I am maintaining PowerDNS, which has an OpenDBX backend, this would be useful for me. I would suggest using a git repository on collab-maint, with the packages.qa.debian.org mail address used as maintainer address for the second and following uploads to distribute maintainer mail via the PTS.
