I did another test installation, with another partitioning scheme:
        /dev/sda1       /       btrfs
        /dev/sda2       /boot   ext4
        /dev/sda5       swap    swap

And this way, it worked.

In this test installation btrfs-tools _was_ installed.
So problem might be, that it was not installed in the first test
installation?

I will do another installation with only one btrfs partition and
with forcing the installation of btrfs-tools. 
We will see...
