An idea behind resolvconf is that nameservers, like gateways, are associated with interfaces. So nameserver address registrations should only be active when the addresses are accessible over their associated interfaces. Which means that if you want to be picky you should deregister nameserver addresses from resolvconf before starting to deconfigure the interface. If that's what you are doing then you are doing it right. :-) -- Thomas
