Package: libpetsc3.2-dbg Version: 3.2.dfsg-5 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
Dear Maintainer, Recently, I tried to link PETSC in debugging mode, but unfortunately it failed. I run my configure script that makes use of the PETSC_CHECKS macro and set the PETSC_DIR and PETSC_ARCH environment variables: ./configure PETSC_DIR=/usr/lib/petscdir/3.2 PETSC_ARCH=linux-gnu-c-debug Unfortunately, after some time configure told me that it could not compile the test that checks for PetscPrintf. After taking a look at the log files, I noticed that this was due to not linking to hdf5 libraries. I added -lhdf5 to the PETSC_EXTERNAL_LIBS variable within the /usr/share/aclocal/petsc.m4 macro (which links to /usr/lib/petscdir/3.2/aclocal/petsc.m4) and now everything is working. I didn't test the static library from the non-debug package.
