Package: ibus-xkbc Version: 1.3.3.20100922-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, dunno, but finding out about this package if one needs to configure his keyboard to additional input control for other languages is very remote.. I'm sort of raising the suggestion this should be part of a desktop metapackage.. as there's already two Keyboard sections in a gnome environment to change keyboard settings (keyboard and RegionalNLanguage), and sometimes a there needs to be a tweak with the input method system that would benefit many.. yet this is very non-intuitive
I shouldnt compare distros, but in ubuntu there are 3 modes selectable from a pulldown itemlist concerning which input method system to use. This is arranged as part it's desktop install..('Keyboard layout' icon in its systemsettings) The similar settings(on debian) can be found in the Ibus app, on the 2nd tab 'Input Method' but this isnt installed by default and largely complements anything 'Keyboard' and RegionalNLanguage in systemsettings.. (I didnt raise this until a few people were asking me on irc related questions about input method systems for typing in other languages) -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-3-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_CA.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages ibus-xkbc depends on: ii ibus 1.4.1-7 ii python 2.7.3~rc2-1 ii python-support 1.0.15 ibus-xkbc recommends no packages. ibus-xkbc suggests no packages. -- debconf-show failed -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
