I did, but I went through the documentation and searched the web but couldn't find anything useful, so I really thought it was a bug. What you quoted from the documentation indeed helped me solving the problem, but this behaviour is not documented in the description of the \vref command so it was not very straightforward. :-) Anyway, sorry for bothering you and thanks for answering anyway.
