Hi Jeremy, hi Guido,

please note that Python Paramiko from version 1.8 on will have a new
upstream author:
http://bitprophet.org/blog/2012/09/29/paramiko-and-ssh/

Having Python Paramiko 1.8 in experimental once it gets released will
be very welcome!

Mike

Mike,

I'm glad to see that Paramiko will once again have an active upstream. Perhaps that will help with clearing up some of the issues in the Debian BTS currently against Paramiko, 2 of which have been marked Release Critical.

I'll work on updating the debian/watch file from lag.net to Github in preparation. This should then notify me when 1.8 is released.

I am the upstream developer and package maintainer of python-x2go. Python X2Go heavily uses Paramiko and maybe I can help out a little with great user (and monkey patching experience) of Paramiko.

A (non-Debian) package of python-paramiko built against unreleased 1.8.0 in upstream Git is available here:
http://packages.x2go.org/debian/pool/heuler/p/paramiko/

Greets,
Mike
