I don't know how else to demonstrate. The overstriking basic pattern which some manual pages use for bold+underline is _\bC\bC (where C is the character). In an xterm or the linux console, running less on the attached overstrike.txt causes the text to appear as follows: This works: bold As does this: underline This breaks: b^Hbo^Hol^Hld^Hd a^Han^Hnd^Hd u^Hun^Hnd^Hde^Her^Hrl^Hli^Hin^Hne^He --bod
