I'm also suffering from this bug. I have tried the recommended course of action and have run icedove in safe-mode and tried the removal of an imap account. Still freezes, so I guess that rules out this being an add-on.
I haven't had a chance to try the debugging yet, but I'll upload the results once I have a chance.
