Package: emacs24
Severity: normal

emacs23/24 depend on gconf now. The dependency is not the only problem: it
seems that gnome/gsettings are now preferred over X11 resources. Without gnome
being installed, there is no way to change the defaults sensibly (most notably,
you cannot set the default font and colors via X11 resources anymore). Also,
emacs starts a gconf daemon every time its being run, for no reason, as no
other gconf-aware application is installed.
