Package: apt-offline
Version: 1.2
Severity: normal

Hi,

When running apt-offline I noticed a possible inconsistency regarding
permissions set when compared with apt-get behavior for associated
actions.

apt-get sets normal permissions under /var/lib/apt/lists/ as

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root

for downloaded files and only keeps the lock file not world readable.

However, when that stuff is installed by apt-offline only Sources and
packages files stay world readable, but not Release and Release.gpg files.

This causes "Permission denied" errors when using "apt-cache search",
apparently for no good reason.

Also, *.deb packages installed by apt-offline under
/var/cache/apt/archives are not world readable, while "apt-get" installs
them world readable.

Regards,
