Thank you for reply..

I'm not sure witch steps Synaptic or "gpk-application" takes to
install or upgrade a package.
in my case i have "update-notifier" installed, witch executes
"update-manager" package witch shows
witch updates there are and install them, if you choose to...

but whether you use Synaptic or "gpk-application" or apt within a
terminal, its usually done with root permissions,
or else you cant install/upgrade packages. So in theory you should
have permissions to install/upgrade

so the question is, why does all these packages have a problem with
starting or stopping MySQL-server?
on the other hand the MySQL script is still looking for
“mysqladmin” witch is replaced by MySQL-workbench..

            --
            ./var/log/debug (.log)

            Aug 26 15:43:40 Debian-Wheezy /etc/init.d/mysql[2699]:
/etc/init.d/mysql: line 75: /usr/bin/mysqladmin: No such file or directory
            ---

but I don’t think this is the reason why the installation/upgrade
packages have a problem to start/stop MySQL-server, reporting it anyway...

I don’t have any other log files or clues to narrow down the bug,
maybe other users have thoughts on how to solve it....
but if I happen to find more info, I will add it here...

            Thank you
        André
