Package: screen
Version: 4.1.0~20120320gitdb59704-5
Severity: important
Followup-For: Bug #684929

Dear Maintainer,

I can confirm that this still happens (in Linux console, not in xterm)
and it is a regression to previous screen versions.

The corruption of the first line occurs whenever one switches a window.
In applications that do not redraw screen very wildly (e.g. vim or shell
backlog), it is visible as an extraneous ";screen" string in the top
left corner inserted in front of the first line of the screen content.

It makes screen usage fairly annoying and it occurs not only in
applications like mutt or elinks where the top line is just a title
or legend, but also in e.g. vim. That can be very confusing to users,
possibly editing important files (all the more likely when used on Linux
console), so I would like to bump the bug severity.

A workaround is to press Ctrl-L in the application, which will usually
result in a redraw that erases the glitch.
