The general problem is described in [1] and the surrounding thread. There is a proposed solution involving moving the Debain changelog to an architecture-specific location (like /var/lib/dpkg/info/libqtcore4:amd64.changelog) and I suspect that it will be a pleasant change once the details are ironed out. This specific instance is tracked at [2] and will be fixed by the next sourceful upload of qt4-x11. Let's keep this bug separate and open to track progress in solving the general problem.
