By default, apt-get installs recommended packages. nagios-plugins recommends nagios-plugins-contrib, witch itself recommends backuppc. So, installing nagios-plugins will install backuppc, with is a backup server. I don't think this behavior is desirable. This package could be just a suggested one, but not a recommended one.
