Package: wader-core Version: 0.5.10-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
I experimented with wader-core as a replacement for modem-manager. I already had network-manager installed. I installed wader-core, which removed modem-manager. Due to my experiments, the modem-manager d-bus service was run manually and thus was stopped manually. The wader-core failed to detect my modem[*] and I decided to revert to modem-manager. I purged the package. However as the service is run from D-Bus, it was still running. Hence after I re-installed modem-manager, it failed to start (another program was using that interface). I consider this a bug. Though maybe this is an inherent bug of running a service from D-Bus and in this case it's a nofix / whishlist / whatever. [*] That's a separate issue. Sadly don't have the time to debug it right now. So some basic informtion: 05c6:9000 Qualcomm, Inc. SIMCom SIM5218 modem, an Option modem. Well detected by modem-manager. IIRC I also had no issues using it with wvdial using /dev/ttyUSB2 . -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=he_IL.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=he_IL.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages wader-core depends on: ii python 2.7.3~rc2-1 ii python-dbus 1.1.1-1 ii python-gudev 147.2-3 ii python-messaging 0.5.11+debian-1 ii python-serial 2.5-2.1 ii python-twisted-core 12.0.0-1 ii python-tz 2012c-1 ii python-wader 0.5.10-1 Versions of packages wader-core recommends: ii mobile-broadband-provider-info 20120402-1 ii network-manager 0.9.4.0-5 ii python-m2crypto 0.21.1-2 pn python-twisted-conch <none> ii usb-modeswitch 1.2.3+repack0-1 ii wvdial 1.61-4.1 wader-core suggests no packages. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
