I guess the background is taken into account but the foreground is "hard
coded" in gmsh

I don't have access to a Unix machine to test this at the moment, but we
don't specify any interface colors in Gmsh.
Could this be an issue with all FLTK applications? (Denis: could you
test this with another FLTK app?)
