Ok. I just tested it and it seems my initial idea was correct: As long as there is a Makefile present, cmake will not be called by debhelper unless I explicitly enforce it. Any input on the proper fix now? Also, I just figured out I have to fix the version number in the CMakeLists.txt (still contains pre1). The wrong version number was not previously a problem since cmake was never involved up to including package version 1.1.19-2.
