I have no idea when upstream will release the next version. There were
already 3 pre versions but this might mean nothing.

The patch is included in the experiemental version 1.13.4.79-1 of wget:

Maybe you want to test/use this version.

I will ask Giuseppe about if he has a date when he wants to release the
version.
