The "Detecting hardware" progress bar displays briefly, then clears to an empty blue screen with a single white line at the bottom. There is no further screen output. Pressing <enter> scrolls white lines up from the bottom. A tail from an install log follows, as alternate consoles 2,3,4 still work. This is a regression as this system was successfully installed with D-I alpha and a later (~June 15) weekly. The Realtek Ethernet controller does not need firmware to be loaded, although previous installers detected missing firmware and prompted for it. Telling the installer to continue anyway resulted in a successful installation. Such a prompt does not appear with the latest (weekly/beta) test release, and installation cannot continue. This same installer works fine on a different system, with different network hardware, where it does not prompt for unnecessary firmware.
