Excuse me but I think you have some other factor causing this problem.
Just in case this is my fault, I will do some free user support :-)

If you read README, I hope you have rebooted system before reporting...

1. In order to avoid complication.  Please reboot your system from power
off and check things.

2. please run following and paste the result.

$ dpkg -l im-switch im-config
$ env | grep 'fcitx\|ibus'

This is somewhat expected.  But how about other fcitx lines?

This does not make sense.  This may be coming from im-switch.

Did you remove ibus after your last cold boot? (Not counting wake-ups).
