Right now I'm working with this laptop and can't start experimenting
brokenness again.

I'm almost sure this problem will arise to anyone using
a laptop with an integrated Synaptics Touchpad.

linux-2.6.13 is not in Debian and I'm not going to compile it now.
(The last time I tried 2.6.13 it broke for 
different reasons so I'm sticking
with stock Debian linux kernel)

I'll try to do some testing on Tuesday if possible.

In the meantime if you don't find a solution maybe you should revert the
change of conflicting with hotplug and upload to experimental instead.
