I was specifying it using --port /dev/pilot

Thanks, I might do that.  I had a hard disk crash and had to reinstall
everything.  I went with Ubuntu this time.  I'm sure they use the same
debian pilot-link, but I'll have to try it out.  I suspect that they
aren't using the version from experimental so I'll have to try that at
some point too.
