Sorry for delay... 1) I did an fsck on all disks, as suggested, just in case. No disc problems reported.
2) Playing with strace on kpse-which --show-path=ls-R shows that the file on which it chokes is /usr/share/texlive/texmf/ls-R which contains: -------------------------------------------- fetex # . call update-fmtutil # . call fmtutil-sys --missing (or --all) # #cyrtexinfo pdfetex language.dat -translate-file=cp227.tcx *cyrtxinf.ini # End of file: /etc/texmf/fmt.d/50cyrtexinfo.cnf ---------------------------------------------------- (followed by trailing nulls) which looks odd to me. It seems to come from texinfo. /usr/share/texlive/texmf/ls-R is a link to /var/lib/texmf/ls-R-TEXLIVEMAIN I will answer the other questions & report further later. ael -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
