Dear all, here are some results of more detailled experiments with the patch on my Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A (with BIOS 204, I just saw there is a BIOS 206 available. I did not test that, yet).
I applied the patch to stable/linux-3.4.y, running 3.4.4. The available special keys: Key Description Fn+ F1 Sleep F2 Wireless on/off F3 decrease keyboard backlight brightness F4 increase keyboard backlight brightness F5 decrease screen brightness F6 increase screen brightness F7 enable/disable screen F8 toggle screen/external F9 disable touchpad F10 mute sound F11 decrease volume F12 increase volume A ambient light sensor on/off C "Splendid Video Intelligent Technology" on/off V start webcam application Space cycle through power saving modes Up PgUp Down PgDown Left Home Right End Without the patch: - F1, F7, Up, Down, Left, Right They do what they should do. Right now I do not know if xev shows anything, though (ask me, I can test). - F2: at boot LED is off, but wireless works. Apart from that button works as expected. Regarding xev: see above. - F3, F4, F5, F6, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12, A, C, V, Space: No observable effect, xev does not show anything. With the patch: - F1, F7, Up, Down, Left, Right: see above - F2: at boot LED is on, otherwise as above - F3, F4: xev shows KeymapNotify event - F5, F6: nothing (as before) - F8: xev shows FocusOut, FocusIn, KeymapNotify, VisibilityNotify, Expose events, screen flickers (not tried with attached external display) - F9: nothing (as before) - F10, F11, F12: gnome adjusts the volume accordingly, xev shows KeymapNotify events (among others, I guess related to gnome popups). - A: xev shows KeyPress and KeyRelease events for keycode 248 (no symbol) - C: xev shows KeyPress and KeyRelease events for keycode 156 (XF86Launch1) - V: gnome starts "Cheese", xev shows KeyMapNotify event (I guess, hard to identify) - Space: xev shows KeyPress and KeyRelease events for keycode 193 (no symbol) Best regards, -- Carsten Otto o...@informatik.rwth-aachen.de LuFG Informatik 2 http://verify.rwth-aachen.de/otto/ RWTH Aachen phone: +49 241 80-21211
