Hi Lukasz,

as possible, this is a very strange error!

Hmm, what is the status of the following packages:
        libkpathsea*
        texlive-binaries
check it wiht
        COLUMNS=200 dpkg -l 'libkpathsea*' texlive-binaries

Furthermore, can you please set the ulimit -c to a big number, say 1000000,
wiht
        ulimit -c 1000000
and run the etex line again. THen run
        gdb /usr/bin/pdftex core
and at the prompt type
        bt
and send us the output.

It is very strange, and I cannot reproduce it.

Ah and yes, does the same happen when you do
        apt-get install --reinstall texlive-binaries
?

What is your architecture?

Please send the actual binary /usr/bin/pdftex

What is the output of
        which pdftex

Thanks

Norbert
