What I did was move the items into my existing collection folder using Nautilus and then started Rhythmbox expecting it to add the new items to the rhythmbox database. It didn't do it. Rhythmbox already had a database of this folder built sometime ago, I wanted to add the new items to the database.

What you really want is that Rhythmbox re-scans some configured
directories periodically. The current way Rhythmbox works is that you
select folders to add to the collection manually, these are scanned one
 time, and that's all.

I think this is also what the reporter of #200586 wants, and it *might*
be fixed in Rhythmbox 0.9 since it monitors directories where files are
for changes. Could you please check the Rhythmbox software in
experimental and report whether it works as you expect?

Loic
What I want is that when you start a rhythmbox session it scans the directories/folders on startup and adds any new tracks to its database.

I do administer my system and am unable to try the experimental software for you.
