Package: syslog-ng
Version: 3.1.3-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The init script included in the package just checks for existence of pidfile.
It does not check for validity of pid contained therein.
So after a crash which leaves a pidfile behind (which can happen, and in some
setups happens quite often), it's necessary to remove the stale pidfile
by hand. Furthermore, the init script doesn't say "stale pidfile found -
remove it", it just erroneously reports that the daemon is already running.
If you're interested I can provide you with a fix in few days, when I find
spare time.

Regards
Mariusz Kruk
