Package: bsd-mailx Version: 8.1.2-0.20111106cvs-1 Followup-For: Bug #207724 Dear Maintainer, *** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? * What was the outcome of this action? * What outcome did you expect instead? *** End of the template - remove these lines *** -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.0.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages bsd-mailx depends on: ii base-files 6.9 ii exim4-daemon-light [mail-transport-agent] 4.77-1+b1 ii libbsd0 0.4.0-1 ii libc6 2.13-33 ii liblockfile1 1.09-3 bsd-mailx recommends no packages. bsd-mailx suggests no packages. -- no debconf information COMMENTS: I use /usr/bin/mail (which is a link to /etc/alternatives/mail, which is a link to /usr/bin/bsd-mailx) with the -f option to read email, and nonascii subject lines in emails are not decoded. I have the following workaround of the problem, probably of no use to most people. I have a computer running the 64 bit version of Fedora 10 (Linux 2.6.27.41-170.2.117.fc10.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Dec 10 10:36:29 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux). I copied the /usr/bin/mailx file to the present Debian Wheezy system (with a changed name), and I can use it to read email, with the nonascii subject lines decoded.
