I haven't heard any reply on this for the last week.  I don't know if
we have converged to a concensus or not.  However I think we have and
so I am going to mark the ticket as closed.  If you feel that more
discussion is needed please don't be shy.  Please keep discussing the
issue.

Also a good resource for these things is the upstream mailing list
coreut...@gnu.org where this can be discussed with the upstream
maintainers.  It is a friendly list and good results can be had there.
