Package: python2.4
Version: 2.4-3
Python2.4 recommends the packages python2.4-iconvcodec,
python2.4-japanese-codecs and python2.4-korean-codecs, however these
packages do not exist.
I seem to vaguely remember the CJK codecs being folded into the core
python package for python 2.4, so that could explain why these packages
don't exist...
no, it only suggests these. the cjkcodecs have been integrated into
the python core packages. the python2.4 package provides
python2.4-cjkcodecs.
My mistake for the suggest vs. recommand. Just do s/recommand/suggest/
in the bug report. Anyways, the point of the bug report was that
python2.4 suggests packages that don't exist anywhere in the Debian
package repository. Unless you know someone is planning to upload these
packages soon, the suggests aren't very useful. (Actually, the way I
found out about this is that I saw the package names pass by in the
suggested packages list when doing an apt-get install for python2.4. So
I restarted the install, adding these packages only to have apt-get
complain that these is no installation candidate for these package names.)
