Hi, HAL has been deprecated and declared dead upstream so we want to get rid of it in Debian [1]. xmbc-bin has a dependency on libhal-storage1 and libhal1. Please consider porting xmbc to newer interfaces like upower, udisks or libudev or disabling HAL support.
