Jonathan-
I do still use this card, and I am sure there are others out there as well.
The noise floor calibration timeout still occurs on a regular basis. It seems
to occur most often if other wi-fi users are nearby.
In fact, here is the last line of output from dmesg, just before I am sending
this email:
[1807666.427864] ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration timeout (2412MHz)
I have implemented a work-around with a cron job that tests the internet
connection by pinging a nearby host, and restarting the wifi connection if the
test fails.

Ping. Do you still have access to this hardware, and if so would you
still be interested in pursuing a fix for this in squeeze?
If the answer is "no", that's fine, but please do let us know so we
can plan accordingly.
Thanks,
