Yes, this problem is definitely KFreeBSD-specific. Cupt calls mkdir('/') and expects EEXIST but get EISDIR [1]. This is not allowed by POSIX [2] so I believe this is a bug in kfreebsd kernels. I also guess I will have to implement a workaround for this but before let's see what KFreeBSD maintainers say.
