Yes, this is surely connected to the new gdk-imlib change. It's a destabilizing change, alas, and so it's not unexpected to see this sort of problem. I see it as well; fortunately it does not prevent use of the package, it just makes it ugly. (In testing I had bugs much worse than this one that's left!)
