Dear Maintainer,
Smartd keeps writing the same (old) values to the attrlog.*.csv file on
my system. All entries in the csv files on my system (8 months worth
for my previous harddisk, and 2.5 months for my current harddisk) are
identical, except for the timestamp.
I downloaded the newer version of smartmontools (5.42). After building with
the following commands:
./configure \
--enable-savestates \
--enable-attributelog \
--with-savestates=/tmp/smart/smartd. \
--with-attributelog=/tmp/smart/attrlog.
make
And copying the latest log files from /var/lib/smartmontools, I ran smartd,
and it appends the *current* SMART values to the csv file.
For comparison, I also downloaded the debian package, unpacked the .orig
tarball, and compiled that with the same commands as above. The resulting
binary also appends the *current* SMART values to the .csv file...
As a final test, (after modifying the log directory in debian/rules), I
built the package using dpkg-buildpackage -b, and I tested the resulting
smartd executable. Just like the installed package. It appended stale
SMART data to the csv file.
