It's actually the emms install script that failed here, so it's more likely a bug there, than in emacsen-common. Note that the new versions of emacsen-common treat any add-on package install or remove script failure as an error. Previous versions ignored the errors, which was wrong, since it meant that an add-on package's install script might be run before all of its dependencies' install scripts had succeeded. I'll reassign this to emms, but feel free to move it back to emacsen-common if it turns out I was mistaken.
