if a user's shell is not available in the chroot, schroot falls back to /bin/sh. That's probably ok for scripted stuff, but as an interactive shell dash /bin/sh is often quite limited. Please allow changing the default fallback shell in a config file, or just try bin/bash before bin/sh?
