I'm sorry to hear that :-(
Me too :(

I will try to find some time to look at the dante sources to find
any significant differences.

Hmmm the only two changelog entries I can see are:

v1.17 has "Fix bug involving setting "pam.servicename""

v1.16 "Allow PAM tests to be disabled" and also
Return immediate error if username/password is wrong in the common
case, rather than delaying it for later. Helps avoid the case where
socks-clients cache the wrong username/password. Reworked
rule-checking code a little too.

I can put together a v1.16 test package if that'd be useful.

Thanks,

Adrian
So I've juste tested the old releases, building the sources from ftp://ftp.inet.no/pub/socks/old/.

The 1.1.15 works perfectly, but the 1.1.16 has the same symptom than the 1.1.18.

It seems that the "Return immediate error if username/password is wrong in the common case, rather than delaying it for later" modifications break something ... at least in
my case ...

I will investigate it through the sources tomorrow.

Nicolas.
