severity 668367 wishlist thanks 2012-05-09 23:09 "Jan-Hendrik (hennr) Peters" <he...@hennr.name>: | Hi Jari, | | I compile wine by myself because I maintain some apps in the appdb which | I want to run with the bleeding edge version of wine to test their | compatiblity. | | I also install this self-compiled version to my system which is bad if | there is already an installed debian wine package. | | I ask you though to only recommend wine/wine-unstable in the winetricks | package.
When winetricks package is installed, is must work "out of the box". With the required dependencies it ensures that wine is present in the system. The *.deb packaging system cannot know if an unofficial wine is installed outside of it's packaging system. Older versions of winetricks did not require wine features, but that has changed in later releases. Therefore it is no longer possible to use "Recommends". The only solution I can think of in situation where package "wine" does not exists in system, is to download winetricks directly from the project's version control. See project page: http://code.google.com/p/winetricks Let me know if you can think of anything else, Jari -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
