This is no longer correct:
|Permissions
|===========
|
|Users need to be in group dialout to have permissions to read/write on
|the Palm device.
|
|You can use adduser(8) command to add a user to a group. Do:
|$ sudo adduser loginname dialout
One now needs to be root.
Yes I read http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=66063
dialout seems not enough these days.
This only works as root:
pilot-xfer -p usb: -D Palm/Programs/Plucker -i /tmp/201204CS_b5250754092.pdb
Being in dialout group is not good enough starting this month apparently.
I have not changed anything related to access rights in the package.
The access rights are set by the udev rule file
/lib/udev/rules.d/60-libpisock9.rules from the libpisock9 package.
Maybe your udev setup is broken?
Check the device corresponding to your Palm has the correct access rights.
It should be something like:
$ ls -l /dev/bus/usb/002
crw-rw-r-T 1 root dialout 189, 129 avril 25 18:28 002
Bye
