Am I right to consider you mean ttf-bitstream-vera?

Sorry but you mean there are cases when Vera fonts cause
troble with some programs? Do you know any concrete example?

It is easy to remove Vera*.ttf but, as README.Debian says,
a user need to do the followings;
ln -s /usr/share/fonts/type1/mathematica
/usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/7.0/SystemFiles/Fonts/Type1
to make use of the fonts in Mathematica from remote terminal.

If we use Vera fonts of ttf-bitstream-vera I guess we need
to link them also or something similar.
Also please see http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=573479

I'm not sure if it is good or bad to remove Vera fonts.

Best regards,                 2012-4-25(Wed)
