Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.15.9-6
Severity: normal

The bug db related to aptitude is filling up with bug reports
that have become irrelevant, either because of updates, or because
they are duplicates. because of this people (myself included) who
want to report new bugs get the impression the package is not
maintained anymore.

I have this usability bug to report, but when searching the DB to
see if it had already been reported, I see many bug that look
so much alike that they just must be the same problem (e.g. look
for bugs related to holding a package).

I realise programming is much more fun than doing the administrative
work. But surely cleaning up is part of the maintainer's job.

Sorry, I did not mean to be ungratefull, I really do appreciate the
great work all maintainers are doing, and this includes you.

Keep up the good work, but do clean up.

Thanks,

Ernest ter Kuile.
