Package: apt Version: 0.8.15.10 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
This is a feature request. apt-get install helpfully displays a list of 'recommended' additional packages to install before prompting the user to install the requested list. It would be useful for that list of recommended packages to be available to the user at the end of the apt-get install execution, so that the user might easily act upon the recommendation. Currently, it seems to me that the only option for the user is scroll up the terminal window (if that ability is available to h him), and then copy/paste the list (if that ability is available to him). Possible desirable ideas: 1] easiest - just re-display the list at the end of the install process. 2] additionally, prompt to output the list to a file (for piping to apt-cache show and/or apt-get install) -- Package-specific info: -- (/etc/apt/preferences present, but not submitted) -- -- (/etc/apt/sources.list present, but not submitted) -- -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages apt depends on: ii debian-archive-keyring 2010.08.28 ii gnupg 1.4.12-4 ii libc6 2.13-27 ii libgcc1 1:4.6.3-1 ii libstdc++6 4.6.3-1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.6.dfsg-2 apt recommends no packages.
