A similar bug was filed as https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=674149 upstream, there it turned out htat the user had assume that the insert->names dialog was also used too modify named expressions (as in Excel 2010). Gnumeric has a Edit->Modify->Names dialog to to edit those names.
