Thank you very much for testing this in advance. The uvcvideo driver used for this webcam is *identical* in Debian versions 2.6.38-5 and 2.6.39-rc4 (except for comments). So this regression was presumably caused by a change in some more general code, probably in V4L2 (support for cameras and video capture). It's also possible that the problem could be on the display side, since video is usually displayed differently from other graphics. Are you able to play video files successfully? Can mplayer show the webcam video properly if you use the option '-vo x11'? Ben. -- Ben Hutchings It is easier to change the specification to fit the program than vice versa.
